COP30 day 2

Izzy –

Today I went on an indigenous march through Belem, people had gathered from all over Brazil and S.America to claim their land back (also worth noting that because of the geo-political setting of COP this year, this is the first year in 4 years to allow peaceful protests, so a big deal!).

The experience was awe-inspiring and a lot to take in. An amazing thing to be apart of.

Lewis –

Did you know there are a lot of mental foods and drinks and all the inbetween to try in Belem? Last night I had the honour of numbing my mouth with the sensation of “Jambu”. It tingles your mouth, tricking your tastebuds into being disarmed against all spices with minimal impact. The more I drank, the more my mouth felt numb and thus, the easier it was to drink more. A dangerous cycle.

I wonder how much I’d have to drink before I can no longer feel my toes?

Izzy –

The night we drank a lot of beer (7 litres?). We saw the sunrise at 5:30am as we staggered home.
