Day 2 – Dead Woman’s Pass

Think of big things. Now think of something much bigger. Ok — that’s too large, I know what you were thinking.

Dead Woman’s pass is a mountain summit at 4,200 metres high. It was fucking brutal to climb, but worth every knee-bending, headache inducing step. Also, bear in mind that the Incans — they’re no mugs when it comes to building steps. They have that shit on lock. The stairs are made of granite, ranging anywhere between 6-15 inches high per step. It’s also important to add that the weather was completely perfect, a complete ascent of sunshine which is apparently quite rare for this time of year, in this region. The sun is dangerous, bouncing off the white granite. Sunglasses are encouraged.

It’s also worth mentioning that  Izzy is quite good at this, the whole hiking malarkey. Now that’s a woman who can handle an Incan stair. I’m starting to believe that she may be 20-80% Incan. Perhaps I’m 1%.

Day 2 was undoubtedly the hardest we’ve ever done, both physically and mentally. The incline was brutal, we set our polls to maximum length. That’s the big thing I was on about earlier.
