4am start – uh oh – it’s very real now. Do we have the most popular porter in the world? After a long (dare I say, scary?) bus journey along some pretty steep mountain sides we arrive for breakfast. All is calm. All is well. We haven’t even started yet. Starting is a different game. Oh God, we have just been given some hiking polls now. Here we go…

I had one song stuck in my head all day, on the way up the massive hill. ‘Wild Horses’ – inspired by all the pockets of ponies that are so friendly. There were so many on the route. I twas a calm introduction, to say the least, not knowing how difficult it would be up ahead at the peak of Machuu Pichuu, but we’ll get to that later. 

We powered through. Quickly learning how delicious the food was, how knowdledgeable out tour guide was, and the loveliness of our group. 

We ended the night in a campsite with he most incredible view (pictures), if only we knew what states of hostels and tenting situations were to come…
